Can teachers/directors who took course work before 2001 count it for a Credential?
Can teachers/directors receive a credential if they have a BA degree in Early Childhood?
Can teachers/directors with ABC 60 hour Credentials get Level 2 and Level 3 Credentials without taking ECD 101?
No, you must have completed ECD 101 at one of the 16 South Carolina Technical/Community Colleges in 2001 or later in order to receive the Early Childhood Credential and it is required for all of the Level 2 and Level 3 Credentials.
Can teachers/directors who already have the coursework from a technical/community college receive a Level 2 or Level 3 Credential?
If you have completed the required courses in 2001 or later, you can apply for and receive the credentials.
Can teachers/directors who took course work before 2001 count it for a Credential?
No, the course work must be within the last ten years-2001 or later.
Can teachers/directors receive a Smart Money Bonus if they have already taken all of the coursework for a Level 2 or 3 Credential?
You must complete at least one of the courses for a Level 2 or Level 3 Credential in 2012 or later in order to receive a Smart Money Bonus.
Can teachers/directors receive a Smart Money Bonus if they only need one course to complete a Level 2 or 3 Credential?
Yes, if they complete the course work for a Level 2 or Level 3 Credential beginning in 2012, they can receive the Smart Money Bonus if they meet the eligibility requirements of being at least 18 years of age, a South Carolina resident, and working in a South Carolina regulated child care program.
Can teachers/directors receive a credential if they have a BA degree in Early Childhood?
The credentials are only available for coursework completed at the SC Technical/Community Colleges.
Are there any equivalent courses that will be accepted in place of the courses taken at the technical/community colleges?
No, there are no equivalent courses at this time.
If teachers/directors have already received the Infant Toddler, Director, or ABC Family Child Care Credential, do they need to get the new credentials?
All credentials previously awarded by SC-CCCCD are still valid.
