Welcome to the South Carolina Center for Child Care Career Development

Since 1993, the Center for Child Care Career Development has administered a credentialing and career development system for South Carolina in collaboration with the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and most recently with the South Carolina Department of Social Services. The CENTER, which is a self-sustaining unit under the South Carolina Office of First Steps, has as its mission improvement in the quality of all early childhood programs in the state through the professional development of the teachers/caregivers.  Research has shown that teacher’s education and training are the most important indicators of classroom quality for young children.

The key components of the professional development system are Credentials, T.E.A.C.H. Scholarships, the Training System, the Training Registry, and Professional Development Initiatives.  Please feel free to contact us at 1-866-845-1555  (toll free).
